Johnny Joint rod ends offer cushioning that a heim joint cannot provide via high-density urethane bushing that encases the inner ball. The heat treated center balls are cross-drilled for thru-bolt lubrication and the joint internals are retained with 2 heavy duty, heat treated side washers and a snap ring. This specific joint is a 2 1/2 in. diameter, narrow body and features a 9 1/2 in. long shank, from CL of joint to end of tip of threads), 3 1/2 in. of 1 1/4 in.-12 RH threads and a 2.625 in. wide x .640 in. thru-hole center pivot ball. Additional features of the long shank design include the the jam nut being pushed outward, away from the bracket that the joint mounts in to provide more clearance and accessibility to the jam nut. Also, the smooth shank area of the joint may have a bend applied to it in a press to angle the joint for a perfect fit in your application or to gain clearance in tight spots.
